Frequently
Asked
Questions

What is the Estate Prepaid Mastercard®?

The Estate Prepaid Mastercard is a Prepaid Mastercard issued by Sunrise Bank that allows people to reduce their property tax through their everyday spending.

Is there a cost to obtain the Estate Prepaid Mastercard?

To help reduce fraud, the Estate Card program has a $10 enrollment fee, however, upon activation of your Estate Prepaid Mastercard you will receive a $10 promotional credit.

Can I have multiple Estate Card accounts all paying their reward to the same property?

Yes

Where can I use my Estate Prepaid Mastercard?

Your Estate Prepaid Mastercard may be used everywhere Debit Mastercard is accepted.

How does it work?

After signing up for the Estate Prepaid Mastercard and loading funds, when one makes a purchase they earn a percentage of the transaction back towards their property tax as a reward.1

Example:

A family goes out to dine at a local restaurant which is offering a 10% reward1. Their bill comes to $200 and the party pays with their Estate Prepaid Mastercard. A $20 tax reward1 is earned and credited to their property tax account.1

Can I join the program if I escrow my property taxes with my mortgage?

Yes, this program is for you! Your earned tax reward1 is paid to your municipality before your lender is notified on how much is owed in taxes that year. When the lender finds out that you owe less than the anticipated amount, they will either send you a check for the surplus or they will reduce your escrow going forward so you will realize the savings each month with a lower mortgage payment.

How do I know which local merchants participate in the program?

You can find a full listing of local participating merchants by clicking the “Rewards” link and browsing the Local section.

How do I know which online merchants participate in the program?

After you install our Estate Card Rewards1 browser extension, your browser will let you know if you are shopping with a participating merchant. You can also find a full listing of the online participating merchants by clicking the “Rewards” link above and browsing the Online section.

Can I use my Estate Prepaid Mastercard along with coupons or other promotions?

For local merchants, coupons or other promotional items use will be at the discretion of the merchant. For online merchants, coupon or promotional codes will likely work but will invalidate the transaction for a tax reward1. Check our deal section to take advantage of additional coupons or promotions that when used will not invalidate the transaction for a tax reward.1

How long will it take for me to see my earned reward?

Your transactions will be available to view in your online reward1 account within 1-3 days on local purchases and 7-14 days on online purchases.

Can I return an item and get a full refund on my purchase?

You may make a return according to the merchant’s policy; however, the rewards1 earned on the original transaction will be subtracted from your rewards1 balance.

When will I see my tax credit applied to my property tax account? 3

Every municipality has a different payment schedule but it will always be paid directly to your local tax collector prior to your tax payment due date. More information regarding your specific municipality will be included in the welcome packet accompanying your Estate Card.
